A Refreshing Win
Written By Marion Barber

We got a couple days off after our big Thanksgiving Day win over the Raiders at home. It was good to have that time because it allowed me to eat a real Thanksgiving dinner with my family. My mom, dad and baby brother came to visit, but I did most of the cooking. I showed them how we do it down here in the D. I haven't been able to spend Thanksgiving with Dominique since before he got into the league, but it's tough to get together during the season on different teams.

I ate way too much, but those couple of days off helped me to work off that extra weight and get my legs back under me. The extra time was nice, but the time before a Thursday game is real tough. You have to cram a week's worth of preparation into pretty much three days to get ready for that next opponent.

We got a big day on the ground from myself, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice. Having three guys in the backfield who can all get it done is a huge benefit for us. Felix broke a long touchdown run and that guy can rumble with the best of them. There's pretty much no point in trying to catch him from behind.

We travel to play the Giants next and it's important that we treat it just like every other game. It's a game we have to win and that's our goal. I think we're playing pretty well right now, but we can always get better. The only thing we can do in order to stay on top of our division is to win the next game. We need to be solid in all three phases if we expect to win.

Looking Forward to Philly

We're playing pretty well right now. We got our third win in a row against Seattle last week. It was great to get that win and now we're getting ready for Philly. Even though it's a division game it's no different for me. I get wired for every game we play.

My left thumb is still a little bit jammed from our game in Kansas City. I jammed it pretty good during pass protection but it's alright now. It doesn't affect my ability to carry the ball or anything.

Miles Austin has been coming up big for us recently and it's no surprise to anyone on the team. He's been balling out there and he's gonna continue to do so. We have a lot of guys who can produce and it's a great feeling. We have three guys in the backfield who are all dangerous too. That's a big plus for us because we work really well together. Nobody worries about who gets the touches, we all just want to win. There's no jealousy.

We're on the road for the next two games but we can't really worry about that. Once I'm on the field I don't notice anything about where we are anyway. Even at home it's crazy to see all those people in the place, but once the game starts I don't even recognize anything about the stadium I'm in.

It'll be cold in Philly this weekend, but I'm from Minneapolis so if anyone is used to the cold it's me.

Rested and Ready

It's always good to get a win, and it was real important to get one going into our bye. I didn't do much during the time off, mostly laid low and rested up. I'm not banged up or anything, it's just always good to get some rest when you can. I got a few extra massages in and my quad is no longer a problem.

I was able to go do some work for the Barber Foundation a couple weeks ago. Me and my brother Dominique participate in that together. I went out to South Oak Cliff High School and worked with Group Excellence. They work with inner city kids and get them tutoring and I just wanted to help out. I'm hoping that I can visit a different high school every week to help kids out.

The last two years I've held football camps free of charge for inner city kids back in Minnesota. We were at North High School in Minneapolis both years. It's a good way to give back to kids who might not have the opportunities I had. There has been a good turnout at both camps which is great. I'm glad I can help them out and teach them how to act on and off the field.

We have a big game this week against Atlanta and I feel good about our team just like I always do.

I’m Good to Go

It was crazy playing in our new stadium on Sunday. I was in awe the whole game. The whole time during warm-ups I was just looking around and kind of checking it out. It reminded me a little bit of a college atmosphere with so many people in the stands. You can see that screen above you on the sidelines. It’s pretty crazy. I’m gonna see if I can get Mr. Jones to hook me up with one of those for my house.

It’s always good to have guys that can step in and play well when needed. Felix Jones and Tashard Choice are both really good backs. But my leg feels good and I’ll be good to go next week.

We play Carolina at home on Monday Night Football, but it’s just another game. Nothing really changes in terms of our approach just because it’s a Monday night game. The goal is still to go out and win. It’s definitely important to come back with a win after that tough loss. At the end of the day that’s all it comes down to, getting that W.

This Place is Unreal

We got the W last week against Tampa Bay. That’s all that matters. Now we’re getting ready to play our home opener on Sunday against the Giants.

It was unreal seeing the place for the first time. It’s totally different from every other stadium I’ve played in. It’s got to be just about the biggest thing in the world. The size is unbelievable but the detail they put into everything is crazy. From the skyboxes on down it’s unique.

The crowd is gonna be loud during the game and I’m real excited, man. They are going to create a whole new energy for us.
